Hey guys, welcome to Learn Feng Shui, where you'll learn Feng Shui from a classical point of view taken out the myth and superstition. If you like weekly tips as well as fun folklore tales, you'll enjoy learning Feng Shui with me. Hey guys, today I'm going to bring to you three tales of StarCrossed lovers. Tail number one is one named Fing Quai Hong, and it's a famous Chinese zither song about two lovers from different societal classes. One named Sima, who was a well known poet, and one named Shu, who was the widowed daughter of a Zhu Wang Song.
So Sima went to a grand party held by Zhu Wang Song, and Sima was really good at playing the Chinese zither. And so I had to look this up guys. A zither, it kind of looks like a guitar. I've seen them before, and you, it's pretty traditional and classical like Chinese music. It just looks like a guitar without a handle, so it just looks like the body of a guitar kind of.
So he was asked to play a song which touched the heart of Zhu Wang Jun, who was listening from the next room. A sudden gust of wind shifted the curtain, and they saw each other in Sun Feng love at first sight when Zhu Wang and Rana went together with him, but found out he had a very poor family. And of course, back in the day, they really didn't marry outside their societal classes. And they had to actually run a wine shop and live in poverty until her father finally forgave them and gave them some support. So I guess she never got her dowry because she ran away with him.
So it says here that as a love story can be found in many ancient literature works and dramas, and it serves as a symbol of Chinese youth, pursuit for love, marriage, and family. And happy life. And I know in several countries still, you know, they do have a range marriages still and sometimes that if they, you know, they don't marry outside their class a lot. And, you know, of course, their dowry kind of determines who they end up with. And so this was very much the case in ancient China.
And I guess it still serves as a tale today, you know, that we just want to marry who we fall in love with. So I want it to bring you that one because it's a nice ending. And I'm going to bring you a little bit of a tragic one. So let's have one nice story and one tragic story. The second tale is called the Changi Bin Yu.
And so I really apologize if I butcher that it translate apparently until Changi flies to the moon. And it's a beautiful love legend across ancient China. According to the legend, Hu Yi was a mighty archer who shot down nine of the ten sons, leaving just one. And that one still lights up our sky. He had a beautiful wife named Changi, whom he loved with all his heart.
And he hoped their happiness would last forever. And asked the queen of the mother of the west for some magic water and for eternal life. Hu Yi and Changi decided to drink in the mid autumn date. And it says here when the light of the full moon shown on the earth. And if you know anything about, I guess Chinese holidays Asian holidays, they have the mid autumn festival, which is around August.
And it's usually maybe September. I apologize. And it's usually when we have that harvest moon. However, on that day, an envious man who wanted to be every young actually killed Hu Yi and threatened Changi. So Changi drank the liquid immediately.
And soon flew to the moon and became a goddess where she lives there with a noble rabbit named Jade. So I've heard a couple different versions of this story. And yeah, it kind of speaks to the sadness. She's alone forever on the moon now and makes the elixir of life. And another version of the story is actually stated that Changi stole the elixir that her husband Hu Yi was granted after he shot down the suns.
And I guess he tried to keep it from her because he was only given enough magical elixir for one person. And someone Changi found out she stole it from him. And he tried to kill her. He was shooting the bone arrow, you know, the bows at her. And so she was able to, I guess, fly to the moon to get away from him.
So again, there's a couple different tales of this story. But I kind of like the one where they were just lovers who want to be together forever.
