Hey guys, welcome to the Learn Feng Shui podcast, where you'll learn Feng Shui from a classical point of view, taking out the myth and superstition. If you like weekly tips as well as fun, folklore, tales, you'll enjoy learning Feng Shui with me. Hey guys, let's revisit Feng Shui around your friend door. So every now and then I circle back around to a topic just to kind of revisit it. And one of the most important things in the most important features you have to think about when you're doing Feng Shui is your door that you're using.
So this can actually be your front door, a door that you use often to get into your home. This tells you what kind of energy is coming into your space. So let's look at a couple different things you can do to make sure your home is getting the best energy. One of the first things that I assess when I go out to a property, or even just doing a remote consultation is the front door. So usually what happens when I go out to a property is I'll measure the way the front door faces and the way the building faces.
And that tells me a lot about the type of energy that's being received into the home. But before you even do that, you have to actually look at what's around the door. So if your door is being blocked by heavy objects, if you look out and directly see a pole or a tree and it's in line with the center of the door where you're looking out, this means the energy could be blocked to your home. So this is the very first thing you look at. So all you want to do is just step outside and you want to just take a little bit of an assessment kind of note, what do you see straight out your front door when you're looking out?
So say you're facing a brick wall, you're facing a pole, you're facing a negative feature. This means that you could have something called Shachi or negative energy that is directed towards your door. So that might actually mean you're bringing in a negative energy when you use this door. And a solution to this is really simply just to use a different door. There's really a way to fix it.
Again, I speak a lot against using objects because guys putting a freaking mirror reflecting your door or reflecting your door or reflecting the object, it doesn't really remove the object. See, she is the flow of energy. And it collects right outside your door and what is called your main tongue. Usually it's your driveway or the grassy area in front of your house, your porch. This is called your main tongue.
So the area actually collects and pulls here in this main tongue. If you have negative features or you know you don't have a good main tongue or the bright hall, that means nothing you do is actually going to help with that except from using maybe a different door. You can't place an object there to change that actual flow of the way it is set up. So I hope that makes sense. The second thing you want to do and I see this is number one biggest mistake I see people make is they want to decorate their porch and so they might put a chair out there, you know, a little bench or some pot of plants, but they're oversized for the area.
So you don't want to choke out the energy or that key that is trying to come into your space. You want to make sure you leave that area open if you want to put plants or a bench or you know something out there that is just fine, but make sure you're not blocking the door and it opens freely and you know there's enough space around where you could actually get it. If you're having to walk around an object to get inside your door, that means the flow of Qi could be blocked and you want to go ahead and remove that object. I see this a lot with seasonal decor. I see a lot of people will put oversized seasonal decor up blocking their door.
So make sure you're not doing this. Another thing you do want to be cautious of is the power washing. So this is something I don't think I've addressed before. When you power wash your house, you know, I know sometimes, you know, the break gets, you know, depending on where you live, I get some, you know, mildew or moss or you know, something going on where you're going to have to power wash your home. Well, when you power washing around the area where your door is, the water is taking the Qi away from your door.
So you see because it's not going inside your home. Generally, what happens is, you know, the Ming Tongue in that bright hall, the area in front of your door, that porch area, it collects all that energy and it goes inside. So the thing in Feng Shui goes that Qi is dispersed by the wind and it gathers on the boundaries of water. And so if the water is pulling and collecting and it's pulling away from your house, have to you power wash it, that might mean you could be, you know, losing some valuable Qi or energy away from your space. And what to do for this is really, I just pick a good data power wash, you know, you're activating a lot of energy when you're doing this and, you know, just make sure that you're pulling in the Qi from other areas.
So you might want to open like your back door, your windows and stuff like that to make sure that the Qi flow is coming in from different areas while you're power washing. Usually what I'll do on a, you know, the day is nice, if there's good energy in the space for the year, I'll try to use that area often. So if you need to revisit my podcast that talk about some of the best source areas for the year, you might want to do that. But my house, so for example, faces south and my door is right in the middle in the south. Well, south has an amazing energy this year that actually connects directly to me.
It's a very lucky for me. And so I'm actually trying to activate the area and use it more. And so since my front door is there that's already being activated, it's already coming in. But on the nice days like today when it's really nice, I go out there and I'll kind of sweep around, I'll activate the Qi, I'll, you know, leave the door open for a little bit. And that is actually what brings in the Qi and kind of triggers and moves that energy around.
So feel free, you know, clean your porch, make sure it's free of debris and the Qi is able to flow. And then you're opening your door to receive that Qi. And also a lot of people really get obsessed over the color of their front door. So I was one of these people that was like, oh, I need to paint my door red because it's lucky for Feng Shui. Well, when I found out my house face south and that's the color kind of most associated with Feng Shui, you know, for the south that I was like, oh, I intuitively did this.
It's amazing. Well, since then I didn't love the way the red door, you know, kind of faded in the sun since it does face face south. It gets like a lot of that sunder in the day and a lot of heat. And so to kind of, you know, take away from that, I painted it an easier to manage kind of blues, you know, gray color. And even though a face is south, I believe that color only has a very minimal impact.
But if you would like to, you can paint your door to represent the color of the way it faces, you know, associated with them with the color and element that it faces. But to me, honestly, I have heard both ways color works color doesn't. And I'm not one to just think that your door is going to affect you too much, especially just the color of it. Now, the energy you're receiving, yes. But the color of it, I'm a little more skeptical.
So I'll leave that up to you. For a free energy mapping of your floor plan, please check the link in the show notes. To support today's podcast, go to learn Feng Shui.com, sign up for emails, leave a review, and share it with your family and friends.
