Yearly Afflictions and Timing in Feng Shui with Linda Ellson

If you like weekly tips as well as fun folklore tales, you'll enjoy learning Feng Shui with me. One of those important things when you're doing Feng Shui is looking at timing. Timing is super important to make sure your Feng Shui is set correctly. It's almost like the space needs the right timing to recognize that trigger of energy.

Today I'm joined by Linda Elson. I took this snippet from a full interview that we did and we got to talking about yearly afflictions and how important it is to check those areas before you do renovations. On top of that we kind of talk about a couple things we do to kind of negate those energies once they've been triggered. Talking about time and space earlier, one of the things, and I think that's really important to know, you may, because of course Feng Shui comes a lot from your external environment, it's a huge part of your Feng Shui. I think it gets overlooked a lot because people are so focused on inside their home because you spend that time inside your home.

I think what people don't realize too, talking about the time and space, timeliness and everything, when those yearly afflictions come in, when different stars come in, it can actually be aggravated by negative external features in close proximity to you. I just kind of wanted to touch on that because I think a lot of people don't realize Feng Shui is not forever. Absolutely. When you talk about time and space and outside afflictions, one of those examples is where you're supposed to dig or renovate or not. I always like to put in perspective for clients and say, listen, there are many things that contribute to life's experiences.

I always remind them of the cosmic trinity that there is heaven lock, there's earth lock, and then of course there's the person lock. But I'll never forget the time that one of my dear, dear, long time Feng Shui clients, I have Feng Shui had her homes, I Feng Shui didn't relocate. I first met her when I relocated her when she had a great flood, she lives in the southern tier of western New York and a great flood came through and pretty much washed away her office along with many other offices in the southern tier. And one of her friends had said, you know, you should really meet Linda Elson and you should really select an office that will be auspicious for you and won't get washed away in the great flood. So we helped her shop for a new location.

You know, again, this has been going on for a number of years, which is up for a new location after that flood happened. So I do annual updates ever home and her business, but I'll never forget the time that with their home, I don't remember what year it was, but it was it was in the east, it was like one of the no no digging zones, maybe it was like that was for the grand Duke was for the year, maybe that was the samsah energy. And it's like, you know, whether you know about grand Duke or some sad or not and you're listening, it's just kind of like the don't do the experiment, although you mentioned that you're studying with a master currently in Singapore, I had one from Singapore many years ago and he would joke you take. And I asked her what what happens if I disturb the grand Duke or I actually, you know, do that renovation, he would say, I don't know why don't you go do that you come back and you tell me about it, I'm thinking I am not going to do that experiment, but I was this great goes like this, I remember that my client had this beautiful huge porch at the front of her house was a ranch style home. She had this gorgeous like flagstone kind of call it flagstone it was a stonework on her porch, I don't know why they would have thought to change it, but one day it was her live and boyfriend at the time and one of his buddies decided to surprise her and they took a jackhammer and they started jackhammering and breaking up the flagstone on her front porch to pour something new.

And I'm and she called me and she said Linda remember when you told me like no digging and renovating blah blah blah in the East this year, she said. Kissie just did this with his friend and jack hacker hammered and I just said to her, you know what she goes, what can I do and i'm like well i'm going to kind of tell you. Well you could pray, you could smudge but really that's a really big disturbance you know and it was really interesting and of course disclaimer right many things contribute to life's experiences but they were they were an interesting couple let's just say that to begin with. But honestly, they did break up about maybe six months after they were definitely on the edge, but it was it really created in wreaked havoc, you know, in on the home front and. Yeah, that is just right, so there are definitely rules to do is to don'ts in any given year, as you would know, and any given month, you know, whether it's renovating.

At this level or delivering certain news or giving a talk on it can really do that effectively there you know there there's some nicer things to experiment with it right then. doing a big change with a jackhammer but I have seen it happen and I although I was sure this tune I don't remember the exact details you know time marches on but. With my own mother right so you hope that as practitioners we can have influence over family members so my mother's been a great experimenter with me again going on 19 years, but I remember one time. One morning she called me and she said Linda you will not believe this but the town. Has trucks outside my house at the foot of my drive and again it was out this was in the southeast and that was a sector a few years ago that was like you know don't dig don't want to be probably after my clients jackhammer experience in the east it recalls a progression every year.

And she said and they are digging up the mouth of my driveway and I said oh my gosh i'm like. Did you get a note in a letter an email and anything from the town that said hi we're going to be digging and you know with a bulldozer your drive which he said no I didn't get anything. And again it was the well what can I do right so you know like some traditional practitioners just depending on you know the level of the study in whatever. Will say well you know if you're thinking you're going to dig or renovate in there some will say you know the you can hang a six holro rod metal wind chime between the house in the area where the you know. The digging is being done so I said to her i'm like.

I think it's going to be a little too late but I can come over and I can come hang a wind chime on your porch and we're just going to pray and I don't remember the exact thing. I think she had like a little it wasn't that bad but I remember like I think she had a little health thing that came up. And I guess it didn't overly surprised me I felt like we we had it we got it under control but again those are things I wouldn't electively you know experiment with that I do have. A healthy respect for the energy both on you know on the positive level and the not so great you know yeah for sure. Yeah I I really think that I want to do a series of some stories about like infantry energy gone wrong to.

Yeah I guess I just want to have a story yeah I definitely have stories and well I think one for my most was me because you know we start. You know experimenting on ourself and in and 2018 so the five star was sitting. It was the sitting of my house it was north and it moved. Think north south. That year you know it was but I don't know if you've experienced this but you know my house is on that north south axis and man those two years are probably the worst like.

In terms of like emotional you know and then we went ahead and decided we're going to renovate because I I didn't know a lot about you know. Agribating some of those energies I had I hadn't done date selection yet you know I just thought okay well I know the great son formula I know it's like you know in my house but. Other practitioners say even when your house is under the great son. If the sitting of your house is on the five don't do it and I see you're we did it and yeah I'll I'll say that it's definitely a learning experience there I think there is definitely an affinity of. When some you know some the city comes in and they start digging in your alley or they start digging in your street.

You know there's something there you know our neighbors moved in a couple years ago and they just started putting up fences everywhere like they read their fences you know we can't control that but no we can as practitioners though again you kind of mentioned almost like an acupuncture to your home you know you can. Activate certain areas within the home to give a little bit better energy but sometimes absolutely what happens just happens.
