Hey guys, welcome to the learn Feng Shui podcast where you'll learn Feng Shui from a classical point of view. Taking out the myth and superstition. So if you're interested in learning Feng Shui, Chinese astrology, all things Chinese and metaphysics, as well as the superstitions and myths that connect it all, you'll enjoy learning fune with me. Hey guys, welcome to the learn Feng Shui podcast. I'm Candice Berlanga, certified Feng Shui practitioner and red river professional with the international Feng Shui guild.

In this episode, I'm going to be recapping my experience at the recent fune summit hosted by the international Feng Shui guild. I'm going to be going over three different presentations I attended and sharing what each one was about, recapping it a little bit, what stood out to me, and how I'll personally be applying some of these takeaways to my real life and how you can too. Plus, I'll be wrapping things up with a quick overview of my own talk from the summit and the core message that I hoped to share. Let's get into it. All right, guys.

Well, starting off with one of the sessions that really resonated with me. Just to recap, there was 24 speakers at the summit. There was two Zoom rooms running simultaneously. It was a free summit that's done yearly by the International Feng Shui Guild and they just really did an amazing job of finding I think speakers that really went together to create a theme and this year's theme was sacred spaces. It is free to attend but you do have to pay for the recordings if you want to rewatch.

I'm going to put a link in the show notes in case you would like to uh go through that. They also have past year summits available if you're interested. But I'm telling you, it's a really good resource for somebody who's wanting to learn more about fune because there is something there for everybody from all schools of thought of Feng Shui. So just to put that out there real quick. But the first session I want to cover is one called magic and miracles and this was given by uh the Feng Shui master RD Chin.

I'm going to also put links to each of these speakers personal websites and whatnot, their information into the show notes also, so you can find them if you want to go follow their work. You all right, so the first one that really spoke to me was this magic and miracles one. It was all about using funu and Chinese metaphysics for healing. He shared how he had an unexpected illness that forced him to slow down. But through it, he was able to stay hopeful and remain positive and actively shift both his mindset and environment to support his recovery.

And that really hit home with me, especially now I've been dealing with some health challenges lately. I've shared a little bit, but I haven't shared uh the ex extent of my health issues this year because I mean, y'all don't really want to hear that. But I think to encourage you guys, I'm I'm going to share a little bit. In March, I came down with a I have a autoimmune flare up that occurs every few years or so, but it's enough to like debilitate me and put me in bed. It's very very painful and it causes a swelling between like the fatty layer and the muscle layer of my legs.

It's actually not super common. It could be caused by a number of things. Well, the first time it happened, I had some blood work done and there was actually no cause for it. Occasionally there's no known cause other than there's inflammation in your body. And so I kind of went on a little quest to like, okay, this is like the fourth or fifth time this has happened to me over the past like 10 years and it's extremely extremely painful and again very debilitating to the point where I I can't walk.

I mean it it's so so painful. I went on a little bit of a quest. I was like maybe I can find some answers which led me to discovering some other things that may have been going on with me. I don't know if it's related yet to the autoimmune issue. I still have some other tests I got to run, but that led to me having a minor procedure done in April um right before this talk happened.

Then left me bedbound for another two weeks. And so I've just been on this recovery. Although there's been some painful things happening, it's not been fun. It's not been easy. I've think that it's going to give me some answers I need to help me in the long term.

You know, once you hit around 40 or so, you really have to look at what's going on with your health. You have to look at what's going on with your habits, your level of activity, your eating, just the things like that. Basically, Mr. Chin was diagnosed with something, I believe, called myopathy. It was just unexpected.

He collapsed one day, was very sick. And so, that was my first takeaway. I think when you have no time to prepare for something, it really kind of leaves you feeling stressed out. And so before my procedure I went in I it was a issue where it was like okay they're going to look and see you know maybe take some sort of biopsy. Well it ended up them telling me like we know we absolutely have to remove this today and send it off to a lab type of thing.

And it was very unexpected. I came home I was unable to walk. I was really unprepared. I didn't have anything prepared like if you know you know you're going in for a procedure you know you're going to get sick. I've never been sick or ill or had to go to the hospital other than to have babies.

And before that, I was able to prepare. You prepare your house, you pack, you uh maybe prepare some meals or you have people that are going to bring you meals. And in this case, it was just very unexpected and I had no time to prepare for any of it. And so it was just one of those things, you know, when you don't have time to prepare, it just leaves you feeling very stressed out. But he talked about staying positive.

And this is one thing that I really it kind of chem kept coming up for me because the day I got home from the hospital I was obviously unable to do any work at all. And this was right before the Feng Shui summit. I was trying to work on my presentation. I just was stressed out. But I just had to tell myself you know what things will get done.

I'm going to give myself time to heal. I'm going to love myself. I'm going to just stay positive. I don't know what this diagnosis means or what it's going to mean. And luckily everything was benign and there's no further treatment needed.

So, I thank God for that. But just staying positive and that just seemed to be a reoccurring thing. I was watching just some Tik Tok videos and stuff like that and there was this man I follow and he was talking about being diagnosed with cancer and how he didn't really change anything but he just decided he was just going to stay positive and keep a good mindset and that really just kind of stuck with me. And so when I heard Mr. RD Chin saying this, I just really thought it was something that resonated with me and like, okay, yes, we I've had to stay positive.

I've had to um just tell myself that it's okay to go slower. It's okay to give myself time to heal. And I really would just especially when I started feeling a lot of pain from the procedure. Um I just would picture myself, you know, feeling good. I would just picture myself like like a loving light going through my body and through all parts of my body and then just picture love flowing through me to love myself.

I think sometimes when we get sick, it's really easy to get down on yourself and to think your body's failing you, especially when it's like an autoimmune issue or something like that. And so, I've really just had to stay positive. There's definitely times that I've during this whole ordeal that I've broken down and just cried because the physical pain was so bad. But again, just saying, you know what, it's okay to do that, too. But don't live in that.

You know, just work past that. Allow yourself to feel that and move back into the space where you tell yourself it's not forever. I will heal and everything is going to be okay. That was another takeaway I got from that. Looking for help.

He talked a lot about using his helpful people sector, helpful people images, the benefactors, what they call in Feng Shui. I'm so thankful for my family and the helpful people around me. Look for help. Ask for help. Activate the benefactor or the helpful people sector of your home.

Use that to whatever advantage you can. uh in work with which he got Mr. Chin also talked about altering his environment and how when he came home they put a hospital bed in his room and that he was facing the bathroom and Feng Shui. You know, of course that's not ideal for you. But he just talked about how he altered his environment in the only way he could and how some of his Feng Shui colleagues came to visit and they hung a bamboo curtain up over it to uplift the energy and and stuff like that.

Even though your bed might not be in a command position, maybe you're not in the best spot. Maybe you're not facing your heavenly doctor direction, uh, which is usually recommended for health, but it's okay. Use do what you can in your environment and alter the environment that you're working with. Sometimes that's a big part of Feng Shui is to maybe add some things to your environment that make it feel better. Add some plants.

People usually will bring you flowers when you're sick or bring you cards. Have all that stuff in view so it makes you feel better. Another thing that this is just kind of off topic, but my dog, I'm so grateful for my dog. I have a really sweet dog that our family is very close to and she was a rescue that we got a few years ago, but she is very much a constant companion. She loves cuddling.

She's a big old baby. She's part greyhound and she gets cold. She wants to just cuddle up to you. The day I had my procedure done, I of course was laying down and and all that. she just came and she wanted to be real close next to me and she got under my covers with me and I just held her and that was a very big source of comfort.

And so even if it's just like a pet, some plants, a flower, you know, maybe it's a stuffed animal, maybe it's something that one of your kids gave you or something and they can't be there, do something that makes you feel better in that sense. Work with what you have. I couldn't sit in my heavenly doctor direction, but I feel like my dog offered that comfort and healing, if that makes sense. And then he talked a lot about healing, his healing process and food is medicine. And this is one of the things that I realized also through all this is that one which was a little bit of a harsh reality for me to face is that I think I was drinking too much alcohol.

I'm by no means over consumer but even the amount of alcohol that I was drinking I obviously had to cut out. I cut out with my autoimmune condition when I noticed it starting to flare up. I started doing some research and realizing like my lower back was hurting. my kidneys probably were not super healthy. And just doing the the cleanse, eating foods that were recommended to me through Chinese medicine, realizing my digestion wasn't great.

Even thinking about the amount of alcohol that I consumed and realizing how that affected my digestion, too. Even my thyroid, I haven't had my thyroid looked at. That's obviously bad for your thyroid, but really realizing, you know, I need to a lot better. I need to get a lot more nutrition than I think I was getting. Of course, when you have any sort of procedure or surgery or anything like that, you have to eat very healthy all those vitamins and minerals you need.

My mom brought over some chicken soup. She has this famous chicken soup she makes and she was like all these vegetables in it and it was just like nourishing to my soul. But since then, I did some research on Chinese medicine and looking at foods you can eat because the foods heal your organs and um your organs need to be healed if you've been experiencing sickness. And for the conditions that I've been experiencing, I realized that my body is very dry. I have a very heavy metal element which represents your immune system.

And so I need to eat foods that nourish and uh moisten the inside of my body. And I've been feeling a lot better. Then uh he says also to combine the two. This is another takeaway and I very much agree with this. Combine eastern and western medicine.

Go to your doctor and do everything that they recommend. Take the medicine that they give you. Of course, you have to do your healing, but then you have to change your eating. You have to change your movement. You have to be able to not be sedentary.

Even just tai chi or chiong yoga, very light stretching like that. I actually was very limited in my physical ability. So, I couldn't do any of that other than maybe stretching my arms is very limiting. In Chinese medicine and in Eastern medicine, they very much believe of course the food, the herbs, the supplements that you take, it promotes the chi in your body. And so the chi needs to be balanced and flowing within your body.

If there's a stagnant chi in your body, one of your organ systems is sick, that means that you're going to see symptoms. And once you start seeing symptoms, then you're going to have to take that medicine, the western medicine, and go to the doctor and stuff. It's best to keep it flowing, but it's never too late to start implementing that into your lifestyle. Another thing he talked about was inspiring other people. And he talked about through uh how through his journey, he was actually able to inspire other people.

He joined support groups. He started his own support group. Um just was able to really connect with other people who were going through the same thing he went through and and talk about his own healing and just be positive for them. And that's partly why I'm sharing this today. but also contemplating the future.

He talked about I mean you have to have a vision for your future and you have to think about the things you're going to do and start where you're at. If you have that vision for your future, you're more likely to then to make it through to get to the other side of that healing and uh start working towards that because future thinking I think can also inspire you too. You don't want to get depressed thinking too much about what you need to be doing, but just contemplating on future goals can help you push forward, I think. So, that was my takeaway from uh RD Chins. Again, I'm going to put um all his information and links in the show notes so you could go follow him if you'd like to.

He has a lot of different groups on Chinese medicine and stuff like that, and so I encourage you to go uh follow his uh work there. All right, guys. Let's move on to the next session and my takeaways. All right, guys. Next session that I wanted to cover was the secrets of the BWA, the 24 mountains.

And this was presented by Laurent Longlay. He went over the basics for those not familiar with a more detailed lan, but he also went over chi, what is it? The concepts of heaven, earth, and man, just some of the basic concepts of Feng Shui. I think his session was really good for people who wanted to deepen their funu knowledge or maybe you're fairly new to Feng Shui and you are not too familiar with the compass or the Feng Shui the classic bwa. Um he explained also that although universal the energy of each sector can be personalized too and sometimes if you have issues it's because it's affecting your personal energy and so it just adds like another layer to it.

For example, the south is the energy of fire. But in the south can be broken down into three subsectors. In that you can find the zodiac sign of horse. And so if you've done my free energy mapping, you may notice that I do a classic compass and then I'll also do just a shadow of the sector. So you can just find south, north, east, and west and whatever.

I'll point those out. But in the BWA, it's a 24 mountain compass over your floor plan. You'll notice that it says south, but it's broken down into three little subsectors. And so it'll be horse uh in that subsector. And so he talks about how you can personalize this, how it adds another layer to it, which I have a really hard time explaining.

And so that's one of the reasons I don't talk a lot about the particulars of fune. It's just a little bit uh difficult to those who understand it if you are very new to it. And honestly, I think he does a really good job of it. One of the things I liked also is he talked about how houses can trigger destiny or your batza. He talked about missing sectors in the home and using that three harmony cycle to complete them.

And so first looking at how houses can trigger your destiny, your batza. Say you move into a house and there is a missing sector and say that that sector is the northwest sector. Well, the northwest sector in Feng Shui represents the man of the house or the husband of the house. And if that sector is missing or if it's affected or afflicted in some kind of way, then it will affect the man of the house. And he also though addresses that it's not the house that makes it happen, but rather acts as more of a trigger for a destiny that's already going that way.

Maybe your bata or your your natal chart has something in it where you lose your husband or the husband has something in it where he's a wonderer and he wants to leave or ask for a divorce or whatever. And so again, it's not necessarily just the fune to blame but a combination of the funu your natal energy but also he reminds us that that heaven earth and man you know that is part of it too. we still have choices, reaction will, you know, our karma, and that comes into play also. It's not just one thing. And I like how he addressed that, too.

But he talked about also using the three harmony zodiac signs within the sectors to complete that sector if it's missing. A lot of people may put up a mirror or do something energetically like they hang some crystals or I've even seen people drive a nail into the ground outside their house. But one way that I haven't seen to use it is the way he described, which is using the three zodiac signs or that three harmony cycle to complete that sector. In this case, I'm going to use the south and the zodiac signs that make up the three harmony cycle or the combo or the fire frame are going to be the tiger, which is the growth of fire. Fire is grown in the tiger energy in the springtime.

And then you have the peak which is summer and the zodiac sign of That's called the peak of fire. And then you have the graveyard of fire which is the dog. The dog is the season of fall and the the graveyard of the summer season. He talks about how you can activate like the tiger or the dog to complete that cycle. And one thing that I didn't get to ask him and for my school of thought my perspective kind of moving over from the house when you look at your four pillars of destiny or your bots your natal chart and you have those four zodiac signs the same thing it's a three harmony cycle there's certain zodiac signs that combine but one thing that I've learned is you still have to qualify that energy and sometimes there's a half combination and so if you have the combination of like the horse and the dog that forms that half combination of or if you have the horse and the tiger that forms a half combination.

But if the peak of the season is missing, uh the horse in that natal chart, your chart does not form a combination. You have to wait for that zodiac sign to show up. And so I don't know if it's the same within the house. For my opinion, if that peak of the season is missing, if the south is actually missing, there there might not be a way to implement the technique. That's just one of the the things that I kind of thought about.

So you have to have that peak to rely on that combination to fully form. So without it, you might not be able to fix that sector. Those are my takeaways. Again, it was a really good session. If you want to learn a little bit more about the 24 mountains, you can definitely follow him.

I'll include that link in the show notes. I do include this in my energy mapping. If you wanted to, you could also send me that. send me your birthday and I'll mark where those zodiac signs are within your home because that is another way to enhance and add another layer. So I can do that for you too.

All right guys, let's move on to the next session which is flying stars. The next session I wanted to cover was put on by Tanya Feng Shui. She looked at the 2025 flying stars and I'm just gonna say my Feng Shui mastermind my group that I'm a part of my teacher master Jenseno talks about how you should follow other funu practitioners you should learn from other masters you should learn some of their techniques you you need to learn not just from one person and so I'm assuming you're probably learning from multiple people if you like classical Feng Shui Tanya Feng Shui is definitely one to follow she's really amazing she puts out a lot of content I feel like our thoughts align really closely on the way Feng Shui is practiced but she of course has different insights than I do and I really love uh watching her videos looking at her content as she does a lot of chin content so from if you're familiar with that uh I find chie very difficult to talk about and I also find sometimes flying stars difficult to talk about and she did a really really good job about talking about the flying stars for 2025 again I'll include her info in the show notes Um, much like me, she does a monthly Feng Shui forecast, a monthly date selection and stuff like that. I missed my date selection because I was sick, so I didn't do date selection this month. Anyhow, Tanya did the 2025 flying stars and my takeaways from her were don't try to cure every sector.

Don't try to activate every sector. This one thing that I think I failed to kind of relay to you guys as an audience, you don't have to activate everything. It's in my newsletter, but when I do the monthly energy update, sometimes I don't address that. You just look at the energy that you want to use for the year, you look at what your goals are, and then you use that sector, place yourself in there to receive the best energy. And so, she just kind of reminded me that I need to remind you guys, you don't have to cure every sector either.

And you don't have to worry about earth energies like the earth shaws, the three killings, and all that. Those aren't really things you have to worry too much about unless you are digging or renovating. And again, I have my no renovation sectors, but I forget to remind you guys about that. I think she talked about using what you got. So, uh, work with what you have.

Just kind of like we talked about RD Chin. And one of the things that I'm going to do to implement, and it kind of reminded me that I'm doing this, reconsider some of the areas I'm using in my home. It's really important to consider the year but also um implementing it with the season and the month separately. Sometimes you have to cure that stuff or activate it separately. Let's go over this step by step here.

Some of the cures need to remain there for the entire year. So the northeast I talked about this is the sector. It should already be cured. Last week I went over the flanks which is the 25 in that area. You should already have a cure up and just leave it there for the whole year because the energy is there for the whole year.

And then you really shouldn't have to do a whole lot of monthly adjustments unless it's something weird just to keep it quiet. Don't spend a lot of time there. I I usually play my PlayStation. It's my living room. I have a game I like to play on there.

And so I moved that to my bedroom just for the month. I don't think I had to stay out there completely for the whole year, but I moved it into my bedroom um so I could just like be more active and and sit in there, you know, and play and stuff. That'll keep me out of that 25 combination, especially since I've been sick. you don't want to sit in the two illness star. That's kind of how that works.

I just uh move that over. And for a seasonal change, an example of this is what I'm going to be doing is I usually also garden in that northeast sector of my my home. I usually have a garden bed that I dig out and I had plans this year and I really put that to the side because I don't want to be digging over there. Again, digging can activate the area. I don't want to be doing too much over there.

And so I decided not to do some of the planting I was going to do, but I'm going to move my raised beds. Um I have some raised bed and some pots that I garden in. So I'm going to move those to the northwest sector of the home, more favorable area. So you even though it has the three star for the year, that energy can be used for public speaking and stuff. And guess what?

That's what I do. So here I am. And so this way I can adjust the seasonal changes and create a more balanced environment without feeling too overwhelmed by focusing on every single sector if that makes sense. So the key really she just reminded me to remind you guys also to be practical adapt your cures for the year and adjust your space monthly seasonally you know just based on the specific energies that affect the environment at that time and where you spend the most time. And so I just wanted to remind you guys of that.

Sometimes I don't do a good job of explaining that you don't have to cure everything. You don't have to activate everything. Don't create fear, but just be smart about what you're doing within your home and the sectors that you're using. So, I don't like to create fear. Also, most of the time the energies can kind of be negated.

And you keep your own energy up. Keep positive just like I talked about um earlier with RD Chin's talk. So, just stay positive. Keep a positive mindset. look at the positive areas of your home and activate those areas.

You know, you want more work, you want to acquire more properties like we talked about. Um, you know, that's you use the Southwest. There's just very practical ways you can use the energy and just ignore some of the more negative energies that are there. Just kind of stay out of the area, keep it quiet, and that's all you really got to do. And again, I'll link her website in the show notes.

Let's now cover my talk. In my summit talk, I explored how cultures around the world, both Eastern and Western, have long used nature, ritual, and timing to guide how they lived, built, and even celebrated it. So what out what stood out most I think to me about or what the message I was trying to convey at least is that even across different regions and beliefs so many traditions share common threads and this is something I noticed while doing the podcast. Uh one thing I'll say is that I I was happy with my talk. I was happy with the information I got out there.

But I feel like being sick previous to that, I felt unprepared even though I have practiced and practiced and practiced. I felt unprepared in that I rushed myself. I was so nervous. I think that I did rush a little bit. Talking to a large live audience is definitely different than even doing like a Facebook live where I know there's only a couple people watching.

So, I was definitely nervous to talk on a bigger scale this time. And I the one thing that I wish I would have done, I think, is push out uh some of my different links and plug the newsletter. And that I feel like I kind of missed the opportunity there. But, you know, it's okay. I'll be ready next time.

I just want to share that even though I feel like the talk went good, there's some things that I would have improved on. I'm thankful for the learning experience. But, yeah, a little bit a little bit uh nervous there. Let's see. Key takeaways here.

I covered how each ancient society, not just the eastern societies, but also western societies had their own way of orienting buildings and how they looked at things like the environment, mountains, water, even wind patterns and used their own instruments of measurement to orient buildings. Timing of course the basis of like date selection, even just thinking about how we use that, lucky dates and stuff like that. But the ancients aligned with the seasons. They watched weather. They looked for different omens and choosing dates for important events.

There are ways of syncing up with rhythms of nature. And I did did cover the use of like the tong shoe and both the farmers on act. So I thought that was a a cool combination. Each culture found ways to connect with the land through ceremony or symbolic practices. This varied from the way homes were placed to how rituals were used to kind of open a space and bless it and protect it.

And even though the details can vary at their core, the ideas are very familiar. The intention, the harmony and respect of the place, I think the biggest takeaways, no matter where we come from, we always look for ways to feel in sync with our environment and just honor uh honoring these shared values and putting them into our modern lives. premise of the podcast has kind of evolved into ancient traditions for modern life and that's what I I wanted to bring. We can still bring these into our modern life today and it can help us enhance our funray practice and feel more rooted and whole. Uh these traditions also reflect a shared value across cultures like harmony, timing and connection to your environment.

And so really what matters most is carrying those forward and honoring those. and we can honor those roots while shaping a funu practice that also fits our modern lives and experience. Just a quick aside here, but I promise it's relevant. I used to listen to his podcast and it was this gentleman that is a medium and one of the things he talked about or one of the things he said one time really stuck with me. He talked about how growing up his grandmother, although she was into spiritualist sort of practices, she always went to the Catholic church.

And one time he asked her, "Why do you feel the need to still go to church if you you have other practices?" And she told him, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. You know, this is what I learned. I feel like it resonates with me." And you know, it's it this is my peace and my protection. So I even though she practiced these other things, she felt like she still went back to her roots. And I still feel like that too.

I was raised in a Christian household and although not necessarily a practicing Christian, I don't go to church and stuff like that, I still hold like that value. I still pray and I still believe in a higher power, although not in the same way. That's why I I don't really go to church. But either way, I don't throw out that tradition. And I think with cultural traditions, religious practices, if something is a part of your background or you grew up with something that you found comfort in or some something you found comfort in doing a some sort of ritual, whether it's just praying or a cultural ritual with a season that very much ties into being part of you.

And so just continue to practice that. And that's what I wanted to share. All right, guys. Well, I hope you enjoyed today's episode. I just thought it would be interesting to share with you some of my takeaways.

Again, there are 24 speakers that presented at this year's summit. I mean, that's pretty much every year they do those simultaneous Zoom rooms with 12 speakers for two days. And it's just man, it's it's a really big presentation that the guild puts on every year and they put a lot of work into it. But man, there was a topic from the awakened home with Amanda Sophia. There was this talk from Karen Rash Carter, Funuang Crystals from Alejandra Brady.

This there was talk about the Eching, the five element manifestation, the women's bwa, Feng Shui for your workplace, a tow of lifestyle. Another one that I really wanted to watch was a Feng Shui journey. I'm going to have to go through that. There is just so much Feng Shui for modern souls. There's just a big wealth of knowledge with these speakers.

So, I highly encourage you to go check that out. I'm going to put a link below. I believe they're 127 if you're a non Feng Shui Guild member or $87 if you are a Feng Shui Guild member. Get those member perks there. Not a bad price.

The one session that I did not get to finish watching and cover was one called Eetheric Gateways, Portals to Other Worldly Dimensions from Christian Kuryaku. And I I actually want to try to see if I can get him on the podcast to talk about the same thing. But he talked about different lay lines and how the uh buildings and structures and stuff like that are actual atheric gateways, which I've heard before. I've just have not covered. And I think this would be a great topic for the podcast, especially combining kind of the eastern and western traditions of geommancy.

I think that would be a really cool topic. But anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed today's episode, just looking back at my takeaways from the summit again. Uh looking back at healing yourself, completing missing sectors in your home or tying it to your bots of flying stars and even my own talk. Hopefully you got a lot of information out of the episode today. I'll catch you guys next week where we talk about symbolism and energies of the snake.

All right, catch you guys then. For a free energy mapping of your floor plan, please check the link in the show notes. To support today's podcast, go to learnf Feng Shui.com, sign up for emails, leave a review, and share with your family and friends.
